back to the basics
Before you can run, you have got to learn how to walk first. start by getting yourself the basic equipment, you MUST wear eye protection so buy that first. at this point, normal shooting glasses will work.
glasses or goggles are a must for airsoft. they protect you eyes from BB and debris.
Now that you have eye protection, your ready to get yourself a airsoft gun. for a starter gun, look for a gun that has 3 things:
-Full metal gear box
-at least 340 fps
-Metal or strong polymer construction
Lancer tactical makes great starter guns for under $100. here are some examples
LANCER TACTICAL PDW

LANCER TACTICAL PDW
LANCER TACTICAL AK-74U
LANCER TACTICAL M4
Now you have a gun and eye wear, technically your ready to play, but for a tactical advantage acquire a vest. its usefulness is beyond measure, it can carry mags, water bottles, maps, patches, additional BBs, and it looks freaken cool. for now lets go with a basic affordable plate carrier. once again, lancer tactical has the solution to finding cheap, well made products. The lancer tactical spec ops plate carrier is only $60 on airsoft GI and DOES come with all the pouches you see; 3 double m4 mag pouches, 1 adman pouch with integrated pistol pouch and Velcro, and 1 utility pouch on the back. I from experience know this vest is a great buy, I used it for 2 years and it still looks new with not a rip or tear on it.
This is a MOLLE plate carrier, meaning you can add additional pouches by weeving the MOLLE threw the straps. By doing this you basicly make the pouches a part of the vest; they will rip before they come off, and this vest in particular is 600 denure. It is very strong!
Now you have guns gear and an itchy trigger finger! lets play, but where can you play? ask around to find a official field such as TAC CITY or SC VIPER. if you live up in Canada like me ey, you'll find that there are little or no playing fields. if this is the case, you may have to make your own. just make sure its on your own property or you have permission to build somewhere else. When i built my field, i wanted a open forest look with allot of natural cover.
BAD
This is one of the things you want to avoid for your first field. it is just to open and no matter how much cover you put in, every match will have you pined behind one piece of cover the entire game. However, later on when you have the time, resources, and experience to build a professional field, you can put in old cars, small houses, towers, and so on with boundaries to make it a fair game.

BAD
this is the other bad thing, to much brush! this is not good because there is just to much brush, you wont be able to run, prone, or even raise your gun in these conditions. the only way to fix this is to cut down the trees or take a machete to the branches. but if you want a decent sized field, it will take days to cut off every branch.

GOOD
This sort of area is excellent! lots of thick solid trees for cover, nice scenery, fairly even ground, and open area to add in any barriers or cover you choose. This sort of area has mass potential to be a great field!

Ready now right? WRONG! you'll need to find local players to form a team. Find 5 or 6 people that are willing to play at least twice a week, have a meeting and discus rules and regulations, what gear is necessary to play, what time you will meet, team leader, call signs, team roles. After that, your ready to play, soon you'll change from noob to pro in no time!
